Background
The history of Promeco dates back to 1996, when founders Elena Triaca and Paolo Rebai, with a strong management background at the international level, decided to invest in the environmental sector by anticipating market needs.
It was the time when the Maastricht Treaty placed environmental protection among the main objectives of the European Community, and when companies, authorities and clients were beginning to address the issue of waste in the name of shared responsibility.
A year later, in 1997, Decree No. 22, known as the Ronchi Decree, came into force in Italy, recognizing waste management as an activity in the public interest and establishing the first classification of waste in Italy along with the definition of management processes.
Through close collaboration with the historic plant engineering company UTL in Vienna, Austria, Promeco gained experience and know-how, focusing particularly on the areas of composting and anaerobic digestion.
Early references include the composting and AD plants with biogas production in Salzburg, which were an example of excellence at the time: they effectively treated and valorized urban wastewater both technologically and constructively, being perfectly integrated close to the residential area.
Since then, Promeco has increased its know-how and gained expertise through its wealth: innovation and creativity, which are still its hallmarks today.
The company, with passion and perseverance, confronting the needs of the international market, has diversified its production by developing individual recycling machinery and complete processing lines in different sectors over time.
